Soul Growin'
03:56
|
|||
The swirlin' steam of a warm cup of tea
Is dancing billows and angels to me
The creases and lines on weathered old hands
Footprints making tapestries on soaken wet sands
An old abandoned barn caged by old abandoned cars
The untrained strokes of a child’s fridge art
Beauty enhanced by hands unafraid of dirt
A woman out weeding dressed in her garden skirt
This is how I’m knowin’ that I’ve begun soul growin’
Eyes fixed in constant stares I’m seein’ art everywhere
Shoes big and small creating patchwork by the door
Mittens and scarves awaiting rescue from storage
Tears making paths on dirty little cheeks
A brave mighty warrior skinned one too many knees
This is how I’m knowin’ that I’ve begun soul growin’
Eyes fixed in constant stares I’m seein’ art everywhere
Raindrops smashed upon a dozen shivering windows
One sun-bleached shell washed upon a sea of grey stones
A vibrant blue egg hiding in a dull brown nest
A single golden leaf blown upon a field of grass.
This is how I’m knowin’ that I’ve begun soul growin’
Eyes fixed in constant stares I’m seein’ art everywhere

I was only an early twenty and already I had to drop that bottle
Broken into pieces on that old dusty alley
I fell down
In that bottle all trapped with no air was all I thought I had
And all I thought I knew and maybe all I thought I deserved
I fell down
I was only an early twenty and already I had walked with despair
Broken into pieces by words said and things done and battles lost
I fell down
And I fell down on my bleeding knees again
And I wept there my face soaked with my tears
And you came there and you laid face on side
Close enough to meet my eyes in the dust
And you cried with me died with me
Bled for me died for me bled for me died for me cried for me
Bled for me died with me cried with me died for me bled with me
Bled for me bled for me died with me cried for me bled with me
Died for me cried with me bled for me died for me cried with me
And you picked me up dusted off my knees
And you hung my heart to dry
And then you blew your wind all through my veins
And your life into my eyes
And I finally realized that all of this time
I had looked at my blood-soaked knees
And I had thought that blood was mine
I fell down

The Broken Whole
03:35
|
|||
It was the small man a truly great man
Who did these great things so many praised
But he did sad things religion hid
Beating his breast why was he born different
It was the small boy a truly great boy
Who did these good things that went unseen
Hidden by bad things done to be seen
A cry for help for a safe father’s love
Father’s fear being known so they hide their souls
Sons they fear growing cold so they live for gold
If beautiful men would unroll their hearts of stone
They’d lead the world to embrace a broken whole
It was the small boy deep tender heart
With tears too easy or so he was told
Grew up a real man muscles and sword
Finally disarmed in a safe lover’s lap
It was the shepherd the gentle soul
Shuffled and shifted his broken whole
Up to the podium amidst the throw
Of dancers and weavers to sway arthritic bones
Father’s fear being known so they hide their souls
Sons they fear growing cold so they live for gold
If beautiful men would unroll their hearts of stone
They’d lead the world to embrace a broken whole

My Love Is There
03:33
|
|||
And if you’ll have me I’ll wander with you
All those nights of red and blue
New pillow each night lay down your head
Beneath those blankets you’ll find
My love is there
And if you’ll have me I’ll wander with you
Play a few strings I’ll sing us a tune
New pillow each night lay down your head
Beneath those blankets you’ll find
My love is there
And if you’ll have me I’ll wander with you
New mercies each morning for this travellin’ two
New sunset each evening lay down your cares
Just check your pockets you’ll find
My love is there
My love has long been yours
Since on that day when we first met
I’ll never quite forget how you just paused and smiled a bit
Then calmly helped yourself to it

Never Be A City Girl
04:08
|
|||
I adore the lights and friction and all that comes with it
But I’ll just never be a city girl at heart
I need abandoned secret places and wide-open spaces
Come let’s take a drive straight to the countryside
I love the crazy tapestries
A constant moving machine
But I’ll just never be a city girl
I need that lonely tree
That autumn field calling me
Come let’s take a drive
Straight to the countryside
To the countryside
I adore the flow and rhythm and all that comes with it
But I’ll just never be a city girl at heart
I need a hidden earthy moss floor and giant towering forest
Come let’s take a drive straight to the wild side
I love the crazy tapestries
A constant moving machine
But I’ll just never be a city girl
I need that lonely tree
That autumn field calling me
Come let’s take a drive
Straight to the wild side
To the wild side

Echo Echo
03:13
|
|||
She cries to the man on the moon
I am alone I am alone
Echo echo come home
Did she finally find her voice
Many men always around
She keeps them out on limbs
Fruit when she feels down
Echo echo come home
Will she finally find her voice
Never the stillness don’t let it get too quiet
Never the stillness don’t make me face myself
Never the stillness don’t let it get too painful
Never the stillness echo echo come home
She cries to the man on the moon
Am I alone am I alone
Echo echo come home
Will she finally use her voice
She cries to the man on the moon
I’m not alone I am never alone
Echo echo you’re home
Will she listen to that voice
Never the stillness don’t let it get too quiet
Never the stillness don’t make me face myself
Never the stillness don’t let it get too painful
Never the stillness echo echo come home

Seeing Stars
04:35
|
|||
There is a place of quiet loss
A universe within itself
But this loss is not a moving on
Like death after a long-lived life
It is not a singularity
Outward motion of galaxies
Expanding from creations point
Beginner beyond space and time
It’s a constellation of grief
Moving in reverse against all laws
In a linear monthly sweep
And it’s more like death towards life
There is a place of perfect time
A universe within itself
Expanded too quick gravity cannot
Collect all the dust and make the star
Expanded too slow gravity collapses
The dust becomes one big black hole
It is not a singularity
Outward motion of galaxies
Expanding from creations point
Beginner beyond space and time
It’s a constellation of grief
Moving in reverse against all laws
In a linear monthly sweep
And it’s more like death towards life
My heart has been hit and I’m seeing stars
Heavy heart expanded there’s nothin’ left to burn
Finally a supergiant destroying myself
I’m a supernova death has triggered birth
There is a place of comfort sweet
Near to the heart of God
A place where we our Saviour meet
Near to the heart of God

Black Sheep
03:39
|
|||
Black sheep black sheep have you any wool
Yes sir yes sir three decades full
One for the master and one for the dame
And one for little blue eyes who lives with the shame
Black sheep black sheep have you any wool
To pull over the eyes of the church and all its folk
One for the master turns out he’s the father
And one for my idol turns out he’s just a man
Pink boy blue room blue sky
Blue girl pink room pink hope
Pink boy pink face blue eyes
Blue boy red eyes bruised heart
Broken bones mending stronger
Broken hearts taking longer
Hurting souls filling hunger
Freedom roads singing louder
Black sheep black sheep convince them he’s the back sheep
Yes sir yes sir three generations you will fool

Take A Risk
04:30
|
|||
I’ll hold your hand if you hold mine
I just don’t wanna love more this time
Can we meet in the middle somewhere between
Meant to be and scared out of our tree
Take a risk on me
Take a risk on me
Yeah
You came floating by
In your little your little rowboat
You held out your hand
Ten feet ten feet from shore
Now what am I supposed
To do to do with that
Be the one to jump again
And fall fall fall in your lap
Take a risk on me
Take a risk on me
Yeah
Now all the poor souls
Who try after after the math
Can go on ahead
And thank you thank you for that
Now it’s gonna take more than that
Because I refuse to fall into somebody’s lap
I’ll lose my head and my heart
Before I fall fall fall for that trap
Take a risk on me
Take a risk on me
Yeah
I’ll hold your hand if you hold mine
I just don’t wanna love more this time
Can we meet in the middle somewhere between
Meant to be and scared out of our tree
Take a risk on me
Take a risk on me
Yeah

King Among Men
04:38
|
|||
I’m the soft forest floor bed for your weary feet
While you are my mountain strong
I’d stay a fierce gold finch gently weaving our nest
And you my giant of oaks
I’m a tempered weapon weight in a warriors hand
While you fight the lion’s den
I’d stay fiery sunrise slow warmth across your face
Morning pleasure consuming
Fan the flame of sleep
Morning mist and valleys deep
We traversed five thousand feet
Hidden halfway
I’m the little gemstones that dance around your crown
While you are the king among men
I’d stay Morningstar hand in hand through the forest glens
Luthien to her Beren
I’m a tempered weapon weight in a warriors hand
While you fight the lion’s den
I’d stay fiery sunrise slow warmth across your face
Morning pleasure consuming
Fan the flame of love
Morning intimate
Rocky slopes crest then plunge
Rinse repeat
Fan the flame of hope
Morning moon and sunburned cliffs
Slow burning ascent
Mountaintop magnificence

All That Blood
04:06
|
|||
She rips her own heart out it’s painful
So uncomfortable and there’s no resolve
Then she gives it to someone and they just decide
It’s a little too messy don’t wanna get dirty
All that blood and she’s left standing there
And she’s told she’s just too much
All that blood and she’s left standing there
When will she feel enough
People used to tell her when she was fifteen
All legs and pokey hips squeaky clean
You should be a model with a face like that
Then they bought her and dressed her and then bled her clean
All that blood and she’s left standing there
And she’s told she’s not enough
All that blood and she’s left standing there
When will she know that she’s enough
She says I don’t really think that I still got it
And even if I did I wouldn’t know how to compete
I don’t really think that I ever had it
This world’s a crazy place I just don’t know how to compete
All that blood and we’re left standing there
And we’re told we’re not enough
All that blood and we’re left standing there
And then we’re told we’re just too much
All that blood and we’re left standing there
And we feel just too much
All that blood and we’re left standing there
When will we say enough is enough

That Won't Change Me
04:22
|
|||
Just like the little girl
Who stares into her daddy’s eyes and asks
Will I be strong like you
He says my child my child
You have far more strength now
Than most will ever dream ever dream ever dream
And if the world tells you differently
Don’t worry that don’t change me
And that won’t change my love
Just like the little boy
Who stares into his daddy’s eyes and asks
Am I beautiful to you
He says my child my child
You are possibly the most beautiful thing
In the world in the world in the world
And if the world tells you differently
Don’t worry they don’t see what I see
And they can’t change my love
Because my love is forever
And if you ever need
To hear it over and over again
Just turn to me and I’ll say
My love is forever
And if the world ever tells you differently
That don’t change my love
That won’t change me
My love is forever
And if the world ever tells you differently
That don’t change my love
That won’t change me
That won’t change my love
That won’t change me

Another new year the residue pounding in my head
There’s glass shards in my flower pot and a stranger in my bed
Another new year my breath tastes of nickels and dimes
It was a pitch black silent train-wreck and I realized it’s time
I’m the one writing the story if you don’t mind
Can I borrow your pen
The beginning is where we develop the character
And these roots will grow stems in the end
Oh it’s a new year
Let’s start over
Facing forward
Right this story
Another new year I’m frozen at good intentions
Emptied hands to climb ladders and was not even mentioned
Another new year why not dust off those shelved dreams
And face those hidden memories and refuse to let history repeat
Another new year my heart can’t take one more moment
I’ve blamed and named and caved ashamed and I’ve realized it’s time
Another new year my breath tastes of nickels and dimes
It was a pitch black silent train-wreck and I realized it’s time
I’m the one writing your story if you don’t mind
These stems will bloom flowers again
Oh it’s a new year
Let’s start over
Facing forward
Right this story
Oh it’s a new year
Let’s start over
Facing forward
Right this story

Deer and Coyote Southern Gulf Islands, British Columbia
Deer and Coyote envelops the listener in an intimate folk tapestry. As pure vocals and evoking guitar are woven with cello,
one cannot help but get caught up in this honest journey.
Chanda and Danny Bosch continue to surprise those who stumble upon this down-to-earth duo! The story began with a shy bearded woodsman who hand-built himself a cello to impress a sweet songstress. The rest is history!
